Saturday October 9, 2010
On Saturday we had to get up at around 7 because the tournament started at 8:30. The beach was only 5 minutes away walking distance, which was really nice for obvious reasons. On the down side though, the weather wasn’t great; it was overcast and sort of drizzling. Not raining enough that we couldn’t play but enough to be annoying. Weather aside, the tournament was, as they say in Oz, heaps of fun. It was great to finally play competitively again. My partner, Sonja, and I did pretty well during our first round of pool play, but during the second round we got tired and kind of lost it. Overall I guess that’s pretty good since we’ve never really played in a beach tournament and we haven’t been playing together that long, so I was proud of us. After the tournament we all went out and got some quality Subway for dinner because it was buy one get one free and we’re all cheap college students. We also ended up going out for some drinks because supposedly you “can’t not go out for a drink in Byron Bay”. Don’t get me wrong, it was fun, but I’m not too sure how it was much different from anywhere else.
