Friday October 8, 2010
Friday morning I got up around 8 because I needed to go to Toowong and get some food. I don’t think I went into this yet, but the reason I couldn’t go with Sam and Linds this weekend was because I had a tournament scheduled in Byron Bay that I had already paid for and couldn’t find a replacement for. So I had to go get some food for the tournament before I had to leave for it at 12. After going shopping I also had to pack and I worked on my paper a little more. The drive to Byron took a little over 2 hours after which we checked into our hostel. We didn’t really have anything planned for that day so we just walked around the town a little bit and checked out the beach, which was beautiful. The town was a cute little stereotypical beach town with a bunch of little shops everywhere. The beach was shaped like a u and interestingly enough, even with being u shaped, the waves always came in perpendicular to the beach. That must be part of the reason why Byron Bay is considered one of the best surf spots in Australia.
